Beech Forest, Hensol Vale of Glamorgan Vale Nature Partnership

Woodland

Woodlands are a significant element of the Vale landscape. They range from ancient semi-natural woodlands (such as those around Barry) to modern conifer plantations like Hensol forest and are perhaps some of the County’s richest areas for wildlife. This habitat also covers orchards and parks and hedgerows and scrub and all are very important for providing food and shelter for a range of birds, invertebrates and mammals.
